So glad you're here. MARIE MARIE is not just a bag brand. We bring women together through the craft of crochet. A community where people meet, collaborate and share their stories - stories we then carry out into the world.
Our bags don’t come from anonymous machines, but from the hands of an inspiring group of women who form the heart of MARIE MARIE. Women with a name, a face and a story of their own. Have a look around!

All our bags are handmade by our own crochet club: a growing online and offline community of around 100 women from all walks of life, spread across the Netherlands, and soon also in India.
Through local WhatsApp groups, our crocheters share their work, find inspiration and connect with each other. A few times a year, we organise 'haakcontactdagen' - crochet meet-ups. That community might just be the most beautiful thing about MARIE. They even send us little cards or messeages on our birthday, we have a whole bunch of them at the office.
It starts with yarn
We have our own social crochet hub, together with Match and Work. There all our yarn is stocked. Each bag comes with its own yarn package. In our crochet hub this is carefully put together and shipped to our hubs by Match and Work. Scroll down to find out more about Match and work and their vision.
Our crochet hubs
Our community of 200 crocheters is spread across the Netherlands, each connected to a local hub. We have more than 10 hubs, one in every region, each led by a coordinator who keeps things running smoothly - from handing out crochet packages and managing yarn stock to checking the quality of every finished piece.
It starts and ends with people
A bag is more then just crochet alone. When the crochet work is finished, it comes back to Match and Work. There it is sewn on around the inside bags, a label is sewn on and your item is ready to go. Every bag you buy starts and ends with people.
The beating heart of our production
Match and Work. Before a crocheter can make a single stitch, a lot of work has already been done. And that work happens in Breda, at Match & Work.
Match & Work is an organisation that gives people with a need for support the space to grow. With MARIE MARIE we created our own social crochet hub. And that plays central role in our production our entire yarn inventory is stored there.
From yarn to bag
Every bag comes with its own crochet package. Each week, we divide up all the items that need to be made, assemble the crochet packages, and send them out to hubs across the Netherlands. Once the finished bags come back, Match & Work handles the final finishing - from sewing on labels to packaging the final product.
