Meet Oma Nel

Meet Oma Nel
So, Nel. Or Oma Nel, as most of us know her. She’s lived in Wormer her whole life, born in the Enge Wormer, married to Koos Post (who sadly passed away last November).

When and where did your creativitiy?

At home, really. I grew up in a big family, in a not-so-big house. We didn’t have much space, so we’d all sit around the table handworking: crochet, knitting, sewing, you name it. It was cosy, sometimes a bit chaotic, but that’s where I learned everything. We were all creative and it was just part of daily life.

What’s your favourite bag?

The Muus is my favourite. I take it everywhere. But the Lizzie shopper too, that one goes with me on all my errands.

What’s always on the table?

Fresh veggies, always. I love a good broodje gezond, but pasta is also a favourite in our house. And if I want to keep it easy, well, then it’s pizza night.

In charge of the details

Oma Nel is the one making sure every MARIE MARIE bag carries its label.

Any life advice?

Always keep your spirits up. Don’t panic too quickly, because things almost always turn out fine. I learned that over the years: life throws you things, but panicking never helped anyone. I tell my children and grandchildren the same.

Favourite music?

I love classical music, it’s calming. But also De Dijk, and Doe Maar. I still know the lyrics by heart from back in the day.

What does MARIE MARIE mean to you?

I think it’s so special that my granddaughter is doing so well. I’m proud, really proud. And I like working on it myself and I enjoy being part of it. Often, crocheters also come by the house to pick up yarn. It makes me feel connected to the whole group.
