Alongside the brand, there is also the MARIE MARIE Foundation. Built on the same idea: connection. With a crochet hook in hand, and a cup of tea within reach, we bring people together. In the Netherlands and beyond.

What started as a small group has grown into a community of women of all ages and backgrounds. Experienced crocheters or complete beginners, everyone is welcome at the Crochet Club. And honestly, it’s not just about crocheting. Yes, beautiful handmade pieces are created. But just as important are the conversations, the new friendships, and the feeling of belonging. Even with people from completely different worlds, where you realise that those differences don’t really matter that much.And while this isn’t the main reason for most to join, we do believe in fair compensation. That’s why our crocheters receive a volunteer fee per bag.

Crochet hubs across the Netherlands

An important part of the foundation are our crochet hubs: local groups spread across the Netherlands where people regularly come together to crochet and connect. Each hub has its own coordinator and community. Some are small groups around a table, others have grown quite a bit over time. Each with its own rhythm and atmosphere, and we think that’s exactly what makes it special.

Through these hubs, as well as online groups, newsletters and social media, people stay connected. They share their work, ask questions, and inspire each other. Sometimes they meet spontaneously, sometimes we organise something together.

Creating together, learning together, being together

In addition to the crochet hubs, the foundation regularly organises workshops and community events. From beginner courses to more advanced sessions, and relaxed crochet days where everyone is welcome.We also meet during casual gatherings in our crochet cafés. And every now and then, we organise small exhibitions or markets where makers can share their work.

Creativity connects

At MARIE MARIE, we believe creativity brings people closer together. With a crochet hook, a ball of yarn and a table full of stories, something special naturally takes shape. Whether you’re young or old, just starting or experienced it, doesn’t really matter.What starts with a few stitches often grows into conversations, friendships and a sense of connection.

For us, crochet is more than a craft, it’s a way to bring people together. And we do that, quite literally, one stitch at a time.
