OUR IMPACT
At MARIE MARIE, creating positive impact isn’t a separate part of what we do. It’s woven into the way we work, make decisions and collaborate.
For us, it comes down to two things: people and materials. Social impact, and how wecare for the world around us. A large part of our bags is still made in the Netherlands. Close to home, within our community of crocheters who work with care and craftsmanship. That local element matters to us. It keeps things personal, transparent and human. At the same time, the brand is growing. And with growth come new questions. How do we keep up with demand without losing what we started with? And how can we grow our impact along the way?

Since the end of 2025, we’ve taken a step further and started working with international partners. We collaborate with Sector7, supporting female refugees in Turkey, offering them the opportunity to create and build an income. It feels like a natural extension of the community we started with.
We also work with Drishti Lifestyle in India, where craftsmanship is combined with fair employment and economic independence for women. When it comes to materials, we try to make conscious choices. We work with jute, leftover cotton, and certified Oeko-Tex yarn. These are materials that help us keep our environmental impact as low as possible. We also use our leftover yarn to create mini bags and keychains, helping us keep waste to a minimum.
We continue to learn and improve, step by step.
Much like crochet itself.
